Former Egypt midfielder criticizes Koller after Sundowns defeat

Former Zamalek and Egypt midfielder Ibrahim salah has criticized Al Ahly head coach Marcel Koller following the Reds’ heavy defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Red Devils were beaten 5-2 by Mamelodi Sundowns in the fourth round of the CAF Champions League this Saturday.

The defeat meant that Al Ahly now must win their remaining two group-stage games in addition to Al Hilal not beating Sundowns in Sudan if they want to make it through.

Ibrahim salah spoke to the Remontada programme on the Al Mehwar TV channel, slamming Al Ahly head coach Marcel Koller and his tactics against Sundowns

“Marcel Koller should have played with a three-man midfield in front of Mamelodi Sundowns that consisted of Aliou Dieng, Amr El-Sulya, and Hamdy Fathi,” Salah said.

“Mamelodi Sundowns is a team that plays modern European football, so Koller shouldn’t have played with this offensive way against them,” he added.

Al Ahly will play against Coton Sport next Friday at 6 PM CLT in the fifth round of the CAF Champions League in a must-win game.
